FOR POTTERS

Many of my favorite glazes come from the the book, Mastering Cone 6 Glazes, by John Hesselberth and Ron Roy. It is full of information on how to apply and fire glazes at cone 6. It is well worth the money. I find myself referring to it again and again, and re-reading certain portions. Their firing schedule, with slight changes, has worked well for me. Some of my favorite glazes from the book are Varigated Slate Blue, Oatmeal, Varigated Blue, Waterfall Brown, and Bone. I continue to test new glazes all the time, though I keep promising myself that I will quit mixing up new glazes, and just get to know all the glazes I already have. Oh, and in case you're wondering, the glaze on the inside of this bowl is Waterfall Brown, and the turquoise glaze is Weathered Bronze, by Pete Pinnell.

I fire in an electric Shimpo Cone Art kiln with an electronic controller. This has improved my firings greatly.
